Issues & Absurdities

Numerous water issues exist in the Middle Rio Grande:

* water quantity

* water quality

* water rights

* etc.

How they are dealt with can lead to absurd results.  Current examples:

Drought Advisory (June 2011)

The drought advisory from the ABCWUA advises us to follow it's 1-2-3-2-1 watering program (http://abcwua.org/):

"Board Issues Drought Advisory

"According to the National Weather Service, drought conditions in most of Bernalillo are classified as “Extreme.”

"(Chair) De La Cruz encouraged the following voluntary steps for Albuquerque water users:

    " 1. Follow the “Water By The Numbers” program and select just two days a week to water landscapes in May, three days a week in June, July and August. .... "

Many think the program means that they are supposed to water 3 times a week. 

Moreover, that's NO change!  This during a time when we've had 0.19" of rain at the Sunport.
