Let's continue the conversation!
First of all, I want to thank everyone who helped me in my run for the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District Board. Too many to name! It is humbling to be told that I was the best candidate and see folks put up signs, hand out cards, call their friends, and vote -- for me! I came up short, but surely added to the water knowledge in our region.
As I spoke with people at growers' markets, at their homes in various neighborhoods, at candidate forums and at several meet & greets, I realized not only how much hunger exists for information but how much realization exists for the need to improve our regional water accounting. This need will become ever more critical to help us balance our water budget and will require policy changes.
I don't want to lose the momentum of our efforts. On the next page. I have begun a draft outline of what an institute might look like. Following that page is a page for suggestions. Please share your thoughts on how an institute, combining water policy and science, might be accomplished. Or email me at ehebard1@yahoo.com.
Thanks again,
Elaine
